Road cars feature heavily on our arrivals list this week, but there are a few competition machines too and we will start with these and our only kit arrival, the Jaguar XJS raced in the IMSA series in 1977 by Bob Tulius, released as one of a number of subjects building a history of the Group 44 team by RPM. From 2016 we have several subjects starting with a special Audi R8LMS from Bathurst, produced by Spark for Audi Sport and in their branded packaging. Minichamps has F1s from 2016, with what were to be farewell race cars for Felipe Mass and Jensen Button, both drivers of course still appearing in 2017, and a special set celebrating Nico Rosberg's World Championship with his Mercedes alongside his father's 1982 Williams. Also from Minichamps, the first of many BMW M6GT3s that they are to produce, this one from Texas.

In early 2017 we brought you the first in a decade-by-decade series of books studying F1 machines of the 60s car-by-car and this this week the second instalment has arrived, with a lavishly illustrated history of the 1970s including plenty of obscure machinery. A couple of weeks ago we saw the arrival of CCC's kit of the tiny Bugatti T19 'Baby' prototype and this time around we have the charming hand built option. Also as a hand built, a private vehicle at the other end of the size range, Looksmart's model of the Lamborghini Urus SUV. As we are going large, let's move on to 1:18 scale and Le Mans Miniatures' latest very well finished hand painted figurines, this one depicting Fangio waiting for a driving stint in the early 1950s. We've 1:18 cars too, with three new releases from Cult Scale Models offering plenty of variety with a Mercedes hearse, Aston Martin Shooting Break and, rather less exotic but that brings back fond memories for your reviewer as an 18-year old of exiting wet roundabouts looking through the side windows, the Triumph Dolomite Sprint.

We have still plenty more for you - now back to 1:43. Matrix follow a couple of themes similar to Cult, with a 'professional' conversion on a luxury road car, this time a Range Rover ambulance and a very limited production estate car in the shape of the Mk2 Jaguar built for Mike Hawthorn and there's also a more modern Daimler prototype with the Corsica concept and a fine Duesenberg convertible. We have more quality American machines from Neo with a Chrysler Imperial LeBaron and an elegant La Salle and they also have offerings for collectors of British cars with a Humber estate car and the original four-wheeled Morgan. Last, and by no means least, there are two very distinctive new subjects from Kess with the Rolls Royce Phantom Majestic, one of a pair of cars built by Bertone for the Sultan of Brunei, and the altogether easier on the eye Alfa Romeo 8C Viotti.

If you missed it, here is the last edition of FSW Weekly.

The motorsport press this week is dominated by news of the passing of one of the all-time greats, Dan Gurney at the age of 86. We've also seen new signings in current F1 and look forward to the launch, in the next few weeks, of the 2018 machines, 'halo' 'n all! The Dakar Rally has three days left to run and with an hour's lead, Carlos Sainz is in the hot seat, but there are still over 1000 competitive kms to go, so this could change!
