There is now such demand for Studio 27's superb kits in Japan that the first of this year's F1 cars is already sold out in that country. The kit of this years bright red World Championship leading car will consequently only be available for a very short period of time. Cast in S27's superb resin with white metal ancillaries, some etched parts and complete decals, the kit looks accurate and will build into a superb miniature. The 126C2 kits are built around precision machined aluminium tub to which fully detailed white metal suspension and drive train components are added and finally the body-work and small details.

These kits are so well engineered that despite the high detail - and with patience - they are buildable by most modellers. The decal sets will enable colourful alternatives to be built on Tamiya and Hasegawa kits. Particularly attractive are the Red Bull Focus of Baumschlager from the Austrian Rally championship and the Iridium Focus of multiple Middle East champion Sheik Mohammed Ben Sulayem. The light pod parts are beautifully cast and are ideal for creating night stage cars from the Monte or Safari.

Ford Focus WRC Portugal 2001 Galp Transkit 1:24

£14.25

Latest in Renaissance' apparent quest to model every 250TR ever raced is a superb hand-built model of the NART entered car driven to 2nd place at Le Mans by Rodriguez and Pilette.
The only differences we can see between the model and race photos are that the 'bug screen' on the bonnet should be slightly smaller and the windscreen wiper is parked at a different angle. Neither of these can be considered serious faults! It appears that Mr Dhont has addressed our usual moan about the size of the exhausts as on this model they look spot on. He is also now telling us exactly what each of his hand-builts is on the base of the display case. Well done. The rally car transkits are all intended for Tamiya kits and include resin modification parts where necessary. These are all very colourful vehicles and hopefully we will have colour photos of these soon. The Nissan transkit includes a full resin body and decals for the green and silver Jomo sponsored car that finished 10th overall. A self adhesive masking strip is provided to ease painting

MM024G

Lola T70 Can-Am 1967 Sunoco

£37.90

When we first opened this kit and went for the bookshelves to research the car we thought "At last we've caught him out, he's got it wrong!" Nowhere could we find a photo of the Sunoco T70 running these huge air intakes. Then during a conversation with John Simons querying the model he pointed out that most photos of this car are from the USRRC series where the car ran different bodywork, we then managed to find a CanAm photo in John Starkey's very rare T70 race history. Sorry John we should never have doubted you! The kit is as usual beautifully made and accurate with a finely cast resin body, white metal ancillaries and a wealth of p/e parts. Builders are advised to be very careful with the rear spoiler as it is apparently very easy to destroy this part! The car very nearly won the 1967 Las Vegas CanAm race after the McLarens had broken down and was comfortably leading before running out of fuel on the last lap, gifting the win to Surtees in his 1966 spec T70.

VRO059

Delahaye 135 Cabriolet 1935

£54.25

A superbly cast, simple resin kit of the elegant Labourdette bodied Delahaye grand tourer. We could not find pictures in any of our books but there are photo-copies included in the kit showing the real car and the kit checks out well against these. When finished this should look beautiful.

Fiat Abarth 2000 Targa Florio 1970 #98

£160.50

We were recently asked by an American journalist 'what makes DVA models so good?' It could be that the paint finishes are flawless, the level of accuracy brilliant, the attention to fine detailing superb and the choice of subjects often unusual. Once again we are making a DVA one of our Models Of The Month (#94) and if you have never seen one you are missing out. For the record the #94 car of 'Pam' and 'GiBi' finished 8th and the #98 car of Taramazzo and Virgilio finished 10th. #98 is pictured on what's new page 4.

These are the first in a new range of budget hand-builts from Ciemme 43. The shapes appear accurate and the overall finish is fairly good. Unfortunately there are no seat belts and on our review samples the rear wings could be better fitted. Overall these are not too bad but not as good as similarly priced and presented pieces from makers such as Tokoloshe. One of these models is pictured in colour on page 5.
