This
Porsche - the last of PM's GT3 Porsches from the 2001 Le Mans is also
one of the most attractive. The dark blue and orange, Hermes watches
sponsored machine finished 3rd in class and 9th overall. The orange
panels are supplied as decals to be applied over the dark blue paint
and you will have to remove some i.d lights from the roof before painting.

While not quite as daunting as the Racing for Holland sister car,
the Dome will still be a dream for those who love decaling. The basic
kit is very simple and once painted white the red decal panels can
then be applied. This - like the Porsche - will look superb when finished. |

| We
know we say it nearly every month but again we have great and welcome
variety from PM. Many of you will remember the rather grainy photograph
we published several issues back suggesting that someone make the
spectacular looking green Martini sponsored Jaguar S type of Gianni
Giudici from the Italian Touring Master Cup. PM - aided by a raft
of information provided by GPM - have picked up the gauntlet and superbly
modelled the car as raced in the Vallelunga 6 hours. An unusual and
colourful subject, that is a must for any Jaguar or Martini themed
collection. This will be great fun to build and decorate. For those
fancying a bit of a challenge the high detail 917 kit is for you.
The doors and rear bodywork are cast separately and full engine detail
is included. If you wish to open and close the rear the very thin
casting will need some careful adjustment, but posed open this will
look fantastic. Decals for either the #17 Siffert, Bell or the #18
Rodriguez, Oliver cars are included. Neither car finished but Oliver
did set fastest lap of the race.. Finally we have the long awaited
MG-Lola form this year's Le Mans race. The cars not only looked good
but also proved to be very fast, if fragile. |

|
| The
kit captures the line of these cars superbly and should look great
when finished. We don't have Ron Peggs' comments on this kit yet but
there are a couple of points we are aware of. There is a small p/e
flap which fits between the front wing and central bodywork and this
looks very fiddly to fit. Also in photographs of the cars the large
MG logos on the body sometimes look as if they are the same green
as the central stripe and sometimes a pale olive colour. Flash photographs
show these logos to be reflective and the colour depends on how the
light catches them. PM thoughtfully include two sets, one in each
colour so that you can decide which you prefer! |

The very simple and
accurate looking kit offers any of the three built version here as
decal options. The resin body is finely cast and the few white metal
ancillary parts look superb. The vac-formed windows aren't the clearest
we've seen but are acceptable, and with the excellent instructions
this should build without any real problems. The built models are
very well finished and capture the aggression of these cars superbly.
The #2 car at Le Mans was driven by Walt Hansgen and Bruce McLaren
whilst the #3 had Bill Kimberley and Richard Thompson sharing the
excitement (they crashed after 6 hours!). The 'Sebring' 1962 -as listed
by SHMR - we can find no record of at Sebring in 1962 but have found
a #62 that ran at Riverside. That was driven by Chuck Daigh. Or is
the Sebring book by the amiable Ken Breslauer incorrect?

| The
rally cars are all well finished and appear to be pretty accurate.
On the side of the Datsun there is a 'Twigai paints/Duco' logo, which
is slightly too small but otherwise all appears OK. The colourful
Sunbeams finished first and second in class on the RAC rally with
Blomqvist finishing 8th overall and Frequelin 11th. The very elegant,
privately entered Saab with its blue and yellow stripes on white,
finished an amazing 4th overall and Per Eklund won his class by over
half an hour! Sadly the de Cadenet (driven by Alain de Cadenet and
FranĦois Migault) is not as well finished as the rally cars. The air
intakes either side of the cockpit have not been cleaned up very well
before painting and the carrier film on the decals shows up very distinctly
against the dark green paint. |
