Ferrari 250GT Covered Lamps Street 1:24 Built

The kits here are well cast in resin with fine white metal ancillary parts. The March kits have very delicate and soft p/e suspension and will probably need supporting to display the models. The wire wheels in the Ferrari kits are of the DIY type. The decals are all clearly printed and the instructions are very well drawn and easy to follow with colour references in English and Italian. The built models show that these will build well but we are rather concerned by the very heavy metal rear wings of the Marches being on very long and with fine p/e supports - perhaps it would have been better to cast the wing section in resin?

Model Plus by MG - New 1:43rd metal kit with engine detail

MGMP046

Ferrari 125 F1 Buenos Aires 1950 Serafini

£40.55

A well detailed and made kit of the 2nd place car from the Buenos Aires GP driven by Doriano Serafini. The metal castings will need a reasonable amount of clean up and together with the p/e fine details should provide an enjoyable build. The wire wheels are of the kit variety and the p/e grill is pre-shaped to fit the body. As you can see from the assembly drawing alongside this is a high detail kit with lots of parts to 'play' with and it provides a good opportunity for superdetailing within the engine bay. This car should be a most rewarding project and could look sensational when finished.

TOK006

VW Beetle 1200 Pickup 1970 Yellow

£42.15

Another charming model from this superb value range, this time a customised pickup truck based on a curved screen Beetle. The paint is excellent and overall finish fairly good though the rear number plate light is not central and some of the panel gaps are rather rough. A colour picture appeared in FSW2/2001.

Fiat 125/s Monte Carlo 1968 / Elba Rally 1970

£25.45

All of these kits are absolutely brilliant. The resin bodies are well cast, the small resin and metal parts well though out and the p/e is excellent. The body shapes all check out well against photos and - with the aid of the simple exploded diagram instructions and colour pics in the Suds - with care these will all make superb models. We have made GMK081 one of our Models of the Month and are going to photograph (we hope!) the kit's parts to show you in colour on page four - but we don't know yet how it will work out - here's hoping...........

Equipe TRON

TRO181P

Osella Pa6 Le Mans 1978 #34 Toleman Kit

£34.70

MDY007M

Osella Pa6 Le Mans 1978 #34 Toleman Built

£100.20

A collaboration between Tron and Madyero has produced a gem of a model of this pretty Toleman sponsored Grp 6 spider that unfortunately crashed out at LeMans. The kit at first looks very simple with flawless resin body and a few other cast parts, then we get to the p/e parts to fully detail the rear suspension, transmission and engine. This detail can be seen from behind the model and is exquisite, if only the rear body work was a separate piece. "Gentlemen raise your scalpels."

We reviewed the unpainted versions of the Audi in 3/2001 and liked them! The paint coats on these kits are evenly applied with very few blemishes in the main silver colour. The paint on the rear wings of our review samples was slightly heavy but these will be decaled so shouldn't be too obvious. For those who prefer not to have to paint their kits these will enable excellent models to be made with relative ease. The unpainted resin figures are superbly carved, needing minimal clean up before painting and will add realism to your model cabinet. The driver figure is wearing an open faced helmet with a scarf around his face and the fireman is standing holding an extinguisher, ready for action.
