New 1:43rd metal kits
TMK333

Ferrari 158 USA 1964 NART

£70.75

TMK334

McLaren MP4/8 Australia 1993

£40.65

When Tameo released the latest kit in the World Championship series (TMKWCT64) they included a truly amazing quantity of photo-etched components. The same basic (!?) set of kit parts is offered again here, this time with the blue and white livery of the NART team who entered John Surtees 2nd placed car in the US GP.
All of the blue sections of the livery are supplied as decals and the multi-page instructions are clear and easy to follow. You won't be throwing this together in a couple of evenings but as a longer term project either this or the previous version will produce a beautiful model.
The McLaren kit is also based on a previous set of parts and this time offers the last race winner of Ayrton Senna. The body and larger ancillary parts are cast to Tameo's typical high standard and the comprehensive p/e sheets include the entire front wing, most of the rear wing assembly (the main element is cast) and suspension.

You may wish to add some carbon fibre decals for the inner surfaces of the endplates etc as there is none included but all of the orange sections of the livery are.

CRM004M

Williams FW23B 1st Italy 2001 Montoya

£149.80

CRM003M5

Williams FW23 1st San Marino 2001 Schumi R

£149.80

CRM003M6

Williams FW23 Brazil 2001 Montoya

£149.80

Now that Crescent Models have got underway with their Williams models they're coming thick and fast. The two winning cars here both represent debut victories for their drivers, Ralf's long overdue win coming at Imola and Montoya taking rather less time to make his mark at Monza during his first season in F1. The models are generally well finished and have all of the decoration in the right places.

The blue sections of the paintwork have a pleasing fine metallic finish and all of the decals are lacquered in. All in all these are nice models and will make good additions to any F1 collections.

RSM007

Abarth 1000 Cuneo #408 Volterra 1970

£52.75

RSM009

Alfa Romeo 33/2 Mugello 1968

£52.75

We can't tell you for sure what event the Abarth is from but these little cars were very successful in the high profile hill-climbs of the late 1960s and early 70s. The basic shape of the car checks out well against photos we have and the details match the real car photo on the packaging. The paint finish has a realistic level of gloss though there are quite a number of blemishes in the surface of this particular model. The Alfa Romeo is finished to a similar standard except minus the paint blemishes.

We know that one of these cars won the Mugello race but aren't sure if it was this one. The shape again checks out with the picture on the packaging but we wish the makers would give us a little more info.

We continue to be impressed by the quality and amazing value offered by this range. The overall standard of finish is generally superb and all of the models capture the shapes of their subjects very well, though there are small detail errors. On the Urracos the fuel fillers on either side have been missed and some of the details such as the door mirrors and etched side window frames are slightly exaggerated. The mirrors are a little obvious but the other details only show up when compared to photos of the real thing. The colours chosen are very 1970s and, while the brown received mixed reactions around the office, the orange got universal approval.

The 350GTV depicts the lines of this very individual car superbly and captures most of the small features very well. On our sample one of the p/e side trims wasn't sitting flush with the body, a problem restricted to just this one piece, but the Lamborghini shield on the bonnet is somewhat oversized.
More of the same on the Espada. Great paint, a well appointed interior, but rather clumsy looking mirrors and badges. Even with these small flaws these will make great additions to any Lamborghini or exotic car collections.

MM022LE

Autocoast Ti22 Can-Am 1971 Delta - Signed built

&£176.25

Unlike the majority of the Lola T70s used in Can-Am racing, A.J. Foyt's metallic blue Lola used a big block Ford V8 in place of the more common small block Chevy but to little effect.
The kit is typical of Marsh production with fine resin and metal castings, a fair level of p/e detail including the chassis liner and well printed decals. A colour chip is included for the unusual pale metallic/pearl blue and the double sided instruction sheet includes a clear exploded drawing and two colour shots of the completed model.
Four 289 Cobras were entered for the 1964 Targa Florio and all of them are offered as options here. The cars weren't best suited to the Sicilian mountain roads but even so the Gurney/Grant car finished 8th overall.
The others were driven by Phil Hill/Bondurant, Ireland/Gregory (the former describing the car as the worst he'd ever driven!) and Arena/Coco. The kit checks out well against race photos and should build well too, though the free standing p/e windscreen frame looks very delicate so be careful! The colour for this one is a simple Ford colour so shouldn't be a problem to find, but if it is there's a colour chip to match to.
The two built Autocoasts are basically the same model and while both are equally well finished they show that no two hand built models are absolutely identical! The model captures this good looking subject very well and the driver, David Hobbs, has signed just 50 examples.
Signed or not this will make an attractive addition to any Can-Am collection. Autocoast epitomised the 'anything goes' rules of the Can-Am series with its titanium chassis.
