| We continue to be impressed
by the quality and amazing value offered by this range. The overall
standard of finish is generally superb and all of the models capture
the shapes of their subjects very well, though there are small detail
errors. On the Urracos the fuel fillers on either side have been missed
and some of the details such as the door mirrors and etched side window
frames are slightly exaggerated. The mirrors are a little obvious
but the other details only show up when compared to photos of the
real thing. The colours chosen are very 1970s and, while the brown
received mixed reactions around the office, the orange got universal
approval. |

The 350GTV depicts
the lines of this very individual car superbly and captures most of
the small features very well. On our sample one of the p/e side trims
wasn't sitting flush with the body, a problem restricted to just this
one piece, but the Lamborghini shield on the bonnet is somewhat oversized.
More of the same on the Espada. Great paint, a well appointed interior,
but rather clumsy looking mirrors and badges. Even with these small
flaws these will make great additions to any Lamborghini or exotic
car collections. |

Unlike the majority of the Lola
T70s used in Can-Am racing, A.J. Foyt's metallic blue Lola used a
big block Ford V8 in place of the more common small block Chevy but
to little effect.
|
 |
| The kit is typical
of Marsh production with fine resin and metal castings, a fair level
of p/e detail including the chassis liner and well printed decals.
A colour chip is included for the unusual pale metallic/pearl blue
and the double sided instruction sheet includes a clear exploded drawing
and two colour shots of the completed model. |
| Four 289 Cobras were entered
for the 1964 Targa Florio and all of them are offered as options here.
The cars weren't best suited to the Sicilian mountain roads but even
so the Gurney/Grant car finished 8th overall. |
 |
| The others were driven
by Phil Hill/Bondurant, Ireland/Gregory (the former describing the
car as the worst he'd ever driven!) and Arena/Coco. The kit checks
out well against race photos and should build well too, though the
free standing p/e windscreen frame looks very delicate so be careful!
The colour for this one is a simple Ford colour so shouldn't be a
problem to find, but if it is there's a colour chip to match to. |
| The two built Autocoasts are
basically the same model and while both are equally well finished
they show that no two hand built models are absolutely identical!
The model captures this good looking subject very well and the driver,
David Hobbs, has signed just 50 examples. |
 |
| Signed or not this
will make an attractive addition to any Can-Am collection. Autocoast
epitomised the 'anything goes' rules of the Can-Am series with its
titanium chassis. |
