CAR4318M

Ferrari CR25 Pininfarina 1974 White

£118.15

CAR4318MR

Ferrari CR25 Pininfarina 1974 Red

£118.15

Pininfarina's CR25 project took its name from the incredibly low drag coefficient of resistance of just 0.25.
For the project the company assumed they would build the car on Ferrari components as what else would an Italian specialist GT car be based on? The large orange coloured triangle on the rear flank was an air brake and the rather odd high front bumper apparently doubled as a spoiler. Carbone have captured the shape of this brave concept car superbly with some very fine p/e detailing, a well detailed interior and an excellent paint finish. The panel engraving around the popup headlights could be crisper but otherwise our (white) review sample was excellent. We love it, one of our Models of the Month.

Ferrari Pinin 4 Door Turin 1980 Kit

£42.50

Designed as part of their 50th anniversary the Pininfarina company came up with something really special, a four door Ferrari!

Powered by a frontmounted Boxer engine driving the rear wheels, this car was a real techfest and good looking too. ABC have captured the lines of this elegant machine superbly and great thought has obviously gone into how to model some of the unusual features. For example the p/e frame for the side windows and front 'screen is one piece which wraps all the way around. At first this looked very complex but on closer inspection there is a recessed mounting lip, which will allow the p/e and flat acetate to simulate the flush glazing superbly. This should actually work out easier than just fitting the curved 'screen as there is a much larger contact surface (the full length of the side windows) to fix the parts to. The interior casting on our review kit was very thin by the rear wheel arches, though this should be hidden by the rear seats and thus be no problem. An excellent kit that should look superb when built and will add interest to any Ferrari collection.

SCDTK010

Alfa Romeo GTAM 1970/71 1:24 Transkit

£64.70

Intended for use with Tamiyaþs Alfa GTA plastic kit as a base, this excellent transkit offers three options. From Zandvoort 1970 the orange #26 car of Hezemans or the red #25 of (we think) Picchi and from the Spa 24hrs the orange 3rd placed car of Hezemans and Facetti.
The resin body is very well cast, as are the resin ancillary parts, though there is a large feedtag in the inside of the roof, which may be a bit fiddly to remove. There are p/e parts included for window frames, wipers, seat belt hardware and sundry other items. With the clear instructions and decal placement drawing these should be a joy to build and will look great just be careful with that feed tag.

Large Roof Rack For Vans (Rally Style) Kit

£15.50

Most of this batch are new versions of previously released models and we have grown used to Mini Racing getting most from their master models - but who can blame them. The kits are well cast, accurate and fairly simple and by creating many versions of the same basic model collectors are offered colourful, and often obscure, subjects at a relatively low price. Colour photos of all the kits can be seen on the centre pages of FSW 8-2001.
The roof rack set consists of a large p/e roof rack and numerous accessories to put on it. There are four sets of wrapped tyres and a choice of three wheel styles to fit in the end (giving the impression of complete sets of wheels and tyres), various tools including snow shovels and what looks like an electrical cable extension and two spare front bumpers which we think are for a Renault 11 but we are not sure!

Porsche 962 large air intake

£5.35

With the vast number of colourful cars and star drivers in the Porsche Cup it is surprising we havenít had many decals of them before.

The attractive, silver coloured, Infineon sponsored car was driven by various drivers and the options are offered here for Andretti, Werner or Peter. The rather plain blue Eschmann Stahl backed car was driven by series winner Huisman and there is an option of building the sister car of Maylander. The Fortuna 962 finished 2nd at Le Mans and this sheet is again intended for the Tamiya kit. The long resin air intake is also for the Tamiya kit and is necessary for many of the IMSA spec cars. Intended for Revell kits, the tobacco decals include Marlboro, Benson and Hedges, West and Rothmans and this large sheet would also be useful as a general sheet. All of these decals are superbly drawn by UMI and printed by Cartograf. The full livery sets contain full colour placement drawings.
