We are unable to shed any light on the results of the kit subjects offered here but can tell you all have colourful liveries and look to be accurate. The Clio has the body cast in resin with the ancillary parts a combination of white metal and p/e. The subject is the attractive dark blue Meri Kits sponsored car from the Bormida round of the Italian championship driven by David Riva (the Ri of Riva being the ri of Meri!). The Fiat 124 uses Meri¯s excellent metal kit to model the fabulous looking blue and orange Gulf liveried car of Parrini and de Tofoli form the 1977 Elba rally. These colours have been seen in many areas of motorsport but we don¯t recall seeing them on a rally car before. The Puntos all use PM¯s fine resin body and base plate with Meri produced white metal ancillaries and clearly printed decals. Each kit includes colour laser copies showing the full sized car and will build to make a colourful collection. Hopefully we will be able to show some colour photos elsewhere in this edition. The built McLarens have good paint finishes and well applied decals but on our review samples we could see daylight between the upper and lower body-work, behind the front suspension! Providing that we can get the camera to work, photos of the two hand-built models should appear in our colour pages.

Well printed decals of colourful subjects with well drawn placement diagrams. All of these subjects are from Italian events and will make interesting alternatives to the usual plastic kits. Drivers for the 1999 Beta Subaru include F1 driver Jean Alesi and GP bike racer Loris Capirossi.

Ferrari 330GTS Michelotti 1967 - built

£126.55

The first two here are superb metal kits capturing the subtle race by race differences with great accuracy. Some may consider modelling what seems to be every version of this year’s Ferrari as somewhat excessive, but we have no doubt enough people do want them or BBR wouldn’t bother!

The long awaited yellow and black Michelotti roadster is brilliantly finished. Our review sample has a slightly crooked rear license plate but is otherwise spotless. A superb model of a very unusual and attractive subject. Please note we have only received a review sample of this model and we know many of you have placed advanced orders which will be filled as soon as stock arrives.
