New 1:24th resin & metal kit
& hand built
TRO224P

Ferrari 212 Uovo Trento 52 #164 - kit

£89.00

This very simple and well proportioned kit captures the unique Marzotto built car very well. There's a fair amount of flash and a few feed tags to remove on the body and from then on it's all very straightforward. The wire wheels are pre-assembled, the heavily shaped rear window is a vac-form with the rest of the windows in flat sheet with p/e frames.

Ferrari 212 Uovo 1st Toscana 1951 #1302 - built

£194.05

Similar parts with different decals go to make the Targa Toscana winner. The assembly and fine detailing has been well done but the paint shows a number of file marks beneath and there are also tiny snags in the blue decal side panels. From shelf distance it looks fine.

Bentley #7 Le Mans Pits 2002 1:24

£68.75

The majority of these parts are very similar to those included in the Audi set that we reviewed in FSW 4/04. The garage structure and re-fuelling rig are the same, being standard equipment, but the lighting rig is somewhat different, having several floodlights on a boom, rather than the complete framework used by the Germans. With the LMM Bentley kit (LMM4068) this will make an attractive diorama, or if you have the space why not add it to the side of the Audi pit for real action.

National rally championships are a great source of potential subjects for model makers, especially as some collectors will be influenced by great liveries and others will have a marque themed collection. All except for the Punto sheets are for Tamiya kits, while the Racing 43 BIG kits will be ideal for the Fiats. The sheets are all clearly printed and have multi view colour placement drawings. Main body and interior colours are quoted in Italian and as far as we can see there will be no two-tone finishes needed. Prize for the brightest scheme must go to the pink and white La Bonelle Peugeot (MKMA2459). The colour drawings can all be seen in our online shop if you are unfamiliar with the liveries.

COM164

Opel Commodore B Gr2 Ring 73 #1 Steinmetz. Also available COM164M - built

£43.15

COMHD009B

Opel Commodore Gr5 Ring 1974 #101

£57.65

Two very differenet variations of the Opel Commodore. The first subject has subtly flared wheel arches on an otherwise fairly standard looking car and apparently took part in the Nurburgring 36 hours. The kit is well cast and should be a simple build.
The second is much more dramatic with huge front and rear wings and a V8 engine revealed beneath the removable bonnet. The castings are very thin, dangerously so in places, so great care will be needed during clean up. In the hands of an experienced modeller this has the potential to be a stunning model, though we haven't a clue what the car did or how accurate it is!
COM174

Fiat 128 Gr2 Zolder 1978 Jagermeister
Also available COM174M - built

£43.15

We can't have a new batch from Competition 43 without at least one Jagermeister subject now, can we? The parts and build photos in the instructions check out well with the race shot also included and it all looks pretty straightforward.
COM176

BMW 320 Gr5 'Flach' DRM 1979. Also available built COM176MA - Winkelhock & COM176MB - Surer

£43.15

All of these Group 5 BMWs were pretty outrageous to look at and none more so than the 'flach' (flat) cars. With a similar rule-reading to Kremer with their 935 K3, the original rear windscreen is retained in position and then a more aerodynamic additional screen fitted over the top. The castings in our kit are rather rougher than usual for C43, so a fair amount of work will be needed to get it all fitting snuggly. Stick with it and you will be rewarded with a fine miniature of the cars driven by Winkelhock and Surer.
COM101

BMW 840 Ring 24hrs 2000 #361 FEV. Also available COM101M - built

£43.15

This is a re-issue of a kit that we first saw 3 years ago. BMW's luxury coupe may not be the obvious choice as a racing car but it highlights the varied machinery that takes part in the Nurburgring 24 hours and would have had a reasonable amount of power. The shape is good and we know that the finished model is very eye-catching and will make an interesting addition to any BMW racing collection.

Ferrari 550 Enna 2003 #23 BMS

£673.85

You may remember that we showed a work in progress shot of LP Creation's high detail 550 back in FSW 10/2003. Starting with a BBR kit each time, the bonnet has been cut out and an fully detailed engine bay created. The additional detailing has been very well done and the general standard of finish is good. There are one or two minor blemishes but they still make for impressive display pieces. The #88 Le Mans car was the GTS class winner in 2003, the BMS car won the FIA GT Championship outright and the Luc Alphand Le Mans entry is just very pretty, which is reason enough to make a model we think!
