New 1:24th plastic kit &
general modelling accessories
TAM24271

Nissan Skyline GTR Xanavi 1:24 Special

£30.00

This is the second kit of the 2003 Japanese GT Championship-winning Skyline that Tamiya has released. This later version contains carbon fibre decals and a small p/e fret including brake details, grilles and body fixings to finish off the already well detailed plastic kit (TAM24268 - FSW 1/04).
TAM74522

Painting Stand Set

£16.00

This two part set is a great idea. In the box you will find a pair of turntables. The smaller is topped with an adjustable sprung body stand, designed to hold your model's bodyshell on the inside edges. The larger has a flat top with various holes on it. For very small parts there are sprung clips and other holes are ideally sized for holding sprues for painting the components on them. This is designed with plastic kit makers in mind but will be ideal for all modellers.

Decal Scissors

£11.00

For accurately cutting out decals you need very fine sharp scissors, just like these! The pivot is a long way down giving plenty of leverage and control and the handle is very comfortable for either left or right handed usage. .

FUJ11104

Antique Garage 1:24

£21.25

The best way to view this is as an enhanced display case. The kit includes the floor and two solid walls of a wooden workshop, complete with a door and window. The other two walls and the roof are supplied as clear panels. Fill it with the model of your choice and a good selection of tools (FUJGT002) and it will make a nice little scene.
FUJ12175

Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971 Gulf 1:24

£25.55

If you're looking for an accurate model of the Gulf 917K, this isn't it. There is plenty of detail but the rear bodywork looks too narrow in relation to the front to make this particular car. With some real modelling it could be made more accurate, or it would make a good base for one of the many aftermarket decals that are being released for
these kits by Studio 27.
FUJ12176

Lamborghini Diablo SV 1996 1:24

£22.70

This kit does check out well shape wise and again there is a fair level of detail. Most of the engine is visible through the hinged rear deck and the interior is well appointed. As this kit is based on an earlier set of parts with updates for the wheels, seats, dash and other sundry items you will have a few bits for the spares box too!

New 1:20th & 1:24th resin&metal kits, 1:24th decal & 1:12th transkit
STUFR2001

Ferrari F2003-GA Japan 2003 1:20

£110.25

Studio 27 are the latest model manufacturer to negotiate a licence from Ferrari. This means that the well cast resin and metal components are now finished off with politically correct decals so the model cannot be 100% accurate for the Japanese GP. Decals aside it's pretty good though and all of the smaller sponsors are included!
STU2466

Toyota 86C Le Mans 1986 #36 Leyton 1:24

£105.95

STU2467

Toyota 86C Le Mans 1986 #38 Dunlop 1:24

£105.95

The two Toyota kits share the same basic parts with just the decals different between them. The body shape is very good and various small p/e inserts add the vents and louvres.
The Leyton House backed TOMS car will be the simpler build as it is a single colour finish, while the Dunlop sponsored Dome entry will need a three colour paint finish abd there are only very fine pinstripes to cover the masking lines. Good luck!

Porsche 917K LM 1970 Sandeman Decals 1:24

£6.50

With the release of several 917 kits by Fujimi, it's no surprise to see plenty of alternative liveries arriving. The David Piper entered Sandeman car looked very striking in its simple yellow and red livery and will make an attractive model.
STUTK1213

Suzuki RGV 500 FIM 1993 Transkit 1:12th

£85.65

This very comprehensive transkit is for use with Tamiya's 1999 Suzuki kit (TAM14081). It looks like not much apart from the wheels and tyres are needed from the donor kit, as the well cast resin and metal parts include the frame, forks, rear swing arm, fairings, seat, tank and much, much more. It's nearly a full kit. The decals include the race bikes for Schwantz and Barros as well as the #1 World Champion celebration machine for the American.

Ferrari 156 Monaco 1961 #38/40 1:20

£171.35

HIR054

Ferrari 156 Belgium 1961 #8 1:20

£171.35

HIR055

Ferrari 156 France 1961 #50 1:20

£171.35

We've already seen three other versions of the Sharknose from Hiro, so we had a rough idea of what to expect. The first kits were of the later season cars with the 120Š engines, while these are from the early part of the 1961 championship and have the original 65Š power unit.
The kits are very well cast with full spaceframe chassis, excellent engines and very fine body panels. The rollover bar should sit in the back of the cockpit, rather than through the rear deck, but otherwise they look very good.
HIR24051

Ferrari 166MM Mille Miglia 1:24

£171.35

We saw another version of this kit in the last issue and the same comments apply. The basic shape is good and there's plenty of detail, with a full chassis, engine, suspension etc. Many of the smaller details such as the three dimensional grille are in p/e. Work will be needed on the body as the panel engraving is far from prefect, but the end result will be well worth the effort.
