New 1:43rd resin hand builts
MRCLS022A Ferrari 365GT 2+2 1972 Red. Also available MRCLS022B - Met Light Blue & MRCLS022C - Silver

£88.85

MRCLS023B

Ferrari 400i 1980 Metallic Light Blue. Also available MRCLS023A - Red & MRCLS023C - Silver

£88.85

MRCLS024A Ferrari 412 2+2 1985 Red. Also available MRCLS024B - Gunmetal & MRCLS024C - Metallic Green

£88.85

These are all very similar in shape and show the evolution of Ferrari’s 4-seater during it’s production life. The standard of build quality is consistently high, with the metallic paint colours having particularly good finishes. The 365 doesn’t have any door mirrors which is odd but correct according to various period photos of the show cars.

MRCLS045D

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti 2003 Yellow
Also available MRCLS045A - Red & MRCLS045B - Metallic Blue

£88.85

MR Collection become the third model manufacturer in as many issues to release the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti in 1:43rd scale and all are slightly different! Overall the shape looks pretty good but the front grille looks slightly shallow. The paint on our yellow example is also rather heavy, hiding details such as the door handles and front towing eye cover. Mind you it’s good that the tiny details are in the castings and haven’t been ignored!
MRCLS053A

Ferrari 412 2+2 Spider 1985 Red. Also available MRCLS053B - Met Light Blue & MRCLS053C - Silver

£88.85

MRCLS054

Ferrari 412i Cabriolet Pavesi 1985 Blue

£88.85

Well, we’ve got several versions of the 2+2 coupe and now here it is with the roof chopped off! This wasn’t a factory conversion but suits the big, front engined car well. We’re not sure about the Pavesi car (with its white upholstery, hood and rear spoiler) aesthetically but the model is very well finished and adds interest to any Ferrari collection.

Ferrari 575GTC Press 2003

£89.25

We always try to be as objective as possible when reviewing models but it does get rather difficult when we keep seeing the same subject time and time again. This one is made by Look Smart and once we get into the box is even labeled as such, despite being marketed by Sticktoy. The model is generally well finished, as we would expect from Look Smart, with good paint and features plenty of p/e detail.

Lotus Elite Le Mans 1961 #38/39 Works

£49.95

These superbly cast kits share most of the same major parts and differ only in the small details. These have been well observed and accurately depict the Team Elite cars from several years’ participation at Le Mans. Careful attention must be paid to the instructions to make sure that you do get it all right, but these are well written and easy to follow. The table at the back of these is particularly good, showing very simply which cars have which vents etc.

MRCLSAR205

Ferrari 550 Silverstone 2002 Force One

£93.00

MRCLSAR206

Ferrari 550 Donington 2002 Red Bull

£93.00

These models are distributed by Look Smart and we presume are built by them for Auto Barn. The style of the models is very similar to that of BBR, with crisp panel engraving and plenty of etched detail. As we had a BBR model of the #80 car here we couldn’t help but compare them and apart from one or two decal placements being different (this one is actually more accurate!) and slightly heavier paint there is little to choose. Mind you, if all models are accurate then the same subject from two makers should look the same! The other two 550 subjects are also variations on cars that we’ve seen from BBR, albeit different race versions. The standard of finish on the Red Bull car is very good, though the silver (decal) sections of the Force One car’s livery are rather uneven.

MRCLSAR308

£93.00

The basic style of the 360s is also very similar to BBR, though many of the smaller details such as the cast wheels are different and there is a little more interior detail. All offer race versions of the 360 Modena that were hitherto unavailable. The standard of finish is generally good, though the decals haven’t snuggled down fully into one or two panel lines, especially with the silver stripes on the JMB cars. We’ve been waiting for a model of the Maranello Concessionaires machine for some time as these racers represented the return of the famous colours of deep red with Cambridge blue stripes. All are numbered editions, with 75 each of the ALMS cars, 175 each of the Maranello machines and 200 of the JMB Estoril class-winner. Why they couldn’t find one number and stick to it is anyone’s guess!

MRC160M

Lamborghini Murcielago 2004 40th Anniversary. Also available MRC160 - kit

£125.65

We already know that MR’s model captures the pretty Murcielago very well. This latest version is finished in the special metallic aquamarine blue (that’s the closest description we can give!) used on the 40th Anniversary special edition. Apart from a couple of small badges and carbon fibre panels behind the rear quarter windows we can’t see any significant differences to the regular cars. The paint on our sample is rather heavier than is usual from MR and one or two of the tiny etched details aren’t quite straight, but it’s still a striking and attractive subject.

Gotha P60A Aeroplane

£35.25

The second release in Marsh’s occasional range of aircraft is another WW2 potential Luftwaffe machine which never got off the drawing board. The kit contains a reasonable amount of small cast and etched detail to be fitted to the large main casting. This casting is very thin at the rear of the flush cockpit area, which will mean great care will be needed here during clean up. Several decal options are offered including US markings for captured versions.
