For
the kit production BBR have made one or two small changes from the
hand built model that we saw in FSW 4/04. Most obvious is that
it now says BBR, rather than RGM Design on the base plate! There
hasn’t been any adjustment to the line of the rear wheelarch,
which is the only obvious detail error. The kit has been typically
well thought out and will build well.

Ferrari F2002
1st San Marino 2003 - kit |
£42.35 |
 |
|
BBR
say that they are only making 100 examples of this kit, though there
is no numbering of any kind. As it is a limited production
kit, the body is resin rather than metal which is more usual on BBR
F1 subjects. The decals are clearly printed and both the tyres and
machined wheel rims are tampo printed with Bridgestone and BBS logos
respectively. The San Marino GP was the last appearance for the F2002
where it notched up a 15th victory. |
|
|
The
612 is a big car and the main body casting in this one has a fair
weight to it. The castings and engraving are, as usual from
BBR, very crisp and the interior parts in particular are well thought
through. The latter will make detail painting nice and simple and
the end result will be a fine model. |

Ferrari 360 Modena JGTC 2001 Mine - built
Also available BBP298 - kit
|
£176.95
|
|
This
car is listed as being from the 2002 JGTC, but the driver line up
is correct for 2001. The model matches photos of the car that
we’ve found on the web and as we expect from BBR, is extremely
well finished. Proof that there are still different subjects out
there, even with Prancing Horses on the nose. |

Ferrari 360GTC Press 2003 Yellow - built.
Also available BBP321 - kit
|
£152.00
|
 |
|
It’s
another stunner from BBR. We’re getting slightly
sick of the sight of 360s but there is absolutely no faulting the
build quality of the press launch GTC. The yellow paint is flawless,
the panel engraving so crisp and fine that you want to try and open
the door and all of the smaller parts very neatly fitted. This is
the kind of quality that BBR have built their reputation on. |

Ferrari F2004 Press 2004 LAST STOCK - built
|
£152.00
|
 |
|
The
first of many built versions of the F2004 we have no doubt! The F2002
set a record of 15 race wins for Schumacher during the 2002
and 2003 seasons, this year it looks like this car and it’s
rather talented driver might well better that. The model is well
finished and presented in a display case with a grid position marked
on the base. The decoration is not complete but this is something
that we are going to have to get used to in an increasingly politically
correct world. Please note that this is a LAST STOCK model. The majority
of BBR’s F1 prodcution is pre-sold these days, so it pays to
get in quickly so that you don’t miss out. The moment a model
is announced is usally about the right time! In this instance we
are fortunate to have a couple left! |

Honda Integra Spa 2000 USA - kit. Also available FRA028M
- built
|
£42.75
|
|
Before
the Spa 24 Hours was absorbed into the FIA GT Championship in 2001,
the field was made up of Superproduction and Group N saloon cars,
with Honda Integras
accounting for a fair number of the entries. This American entry was badged as
an Acura, rather than Honda, and the simple kit captures the lines and decoration
of the yellow car very well indeed. Something slightly different for those Spa
collections. |
|
|
2003
was a pretty good season for Freisinger Motorsport, winning the Spa
24 Hours outright on their way to winning the N-GT category
in the FIA GT Championship. Francorchamps have used a Provence Moulage
kit as a base, with their own decals so it’s no surprise that
it all goes together OK. The general build quality is good with well
applied decals and detailing. The only let down is that there are
a few blemishes in the lacquer coat. |

FRA062M
|
Chrysler Viper 1st Zolder 2003 Pirelli - built
|
£125.20
|
|
This
follows a similar formula to the Porsche above with Provence Moulage
kit parts supplemented with decals and a few additional parts
from Francorchamps. Several race shots are included for decal placement
and detailing. Most of the details on the body are correct but you
should remove the i.d. light from the roof during clean up. The built
model is well put together but one or two on the very complex decals
aren’t quite straight and again the lacquer coat could be better.
Also that light hasn’t been removed. It’s still a good
looking car though! |

BMW M3GTR Belcar 2003 Wintershall - kit.
Also available FRA063M - built
|
£46.60
|
|
We’ve
been dropping not too subtle hints for a model of the M3GTR for some
time now and at last we have one. At first glance
this looked really big, but checking against other 3-series BMWs
from a variety of makers, the basic dimensions are fine, it’s
just an illusion created by the dramatic flared wheel arches and
spoilers. The kit is well cast and in a similar style to older PM
kits, i.e. easy to build! The decals are well printed and the end
result will be an attractive model of the machine which finished
8th in the 24 Hours of Zolder. |

AC Ace Brooklands Street 1995
|
£39.95
|
 |
|
Named
the Ace Brooklands to avoid confusion with the original Ace of the
late 1950s and ‘60s, AC Cars revived the famous name
during the mid 1990s. Echoes have captured the lines of the V8-powered
roadster very well and the main casting is very clean with clear
definition of panel lines. The wheels are also excellent and with
care it will build well. |

JBW-Maserati 1958
|
£35.00
|
 |
|
Thanks to the small makers such as Echoes, this time working from
an original master from Tony Smith, we get many very unusual subjects
that would not be viable to the larger makers. Brian Naylor’s
Maserati 200S-powered JBW is a case in point. This one off was usually
campaigned by Naylor himself but at the Copenhagen Grand Prix, Stirling
Moss drove it to win two of the heats after his works 300S broke.
The bigger car repaired overnight, Moss returned this one to it’s
owner. The model checks out well with photos of the car in action
in this country but we don’t know what race number Moss carried
in Denmark. |
