The last year has seen
a huge resurgence in interest in Aston Martin and in the number of
Aston-related models produced. Much of this is no doubt due to the
current high profile of the company both with their exciting current
road cars and the return of the great name to top flight sports car
racing with the absolutely gorgeous DBR9 (below) but the company's
rich history is also being honoured.

SLM 43's efforts with the pre-war Le Mans cars have been warmly received and
there are still more to come. ABC Brianza have been covering the special bodied
cars of the 1950s & 60s. Piranha Models have just released kits of the latest
Vanquish in coupe and roadster forms, the latter as both the American NCE conversion
and the stunning Zagato styled factory car.
Even better news is that Provence Miniatures are currently negotiating with Aston
Martin to produce the DBR9 in both kerbside and high-detail form and these will
be following the 2004 Jet 2 concept...
There are plenty of exciting new subjects due very soon in the larger scales.
On the back cover of this issue you will find photos of two new 1:12th kits due
shortly from Modellismo Leonardo, Fangio's 1957 World Championship-winning Maserati
250F and one of the most famous cars of the 1920s, the boat-tailed Hispano-Suiza
of 1924.
From Model Factory Hiro, we have just received a 1:24th high-detail kit of another
World Champion the 1952 Ferrari 500 F2 and this will be followed by the 1968
Ferrari 312 and the ex-Climax model of the Ferrari 275GTB.

Bad new for all the
bachelors around the model car business! On November 27th Laura
Brianza of ABC became Mrs Fabbri so you'll have to stop dreaming!

We're sure that you will all join us in wishing Laura and Marco a long and happy
life together. Well done.
Shortly before Christmas we received
the following letter from Colin Baxter of Scale Racing Cars.
'Dear GPM,
It is with great regret that I have to inform you that Scale Racing Cars are
having to cease production at the end of November 2004.
I would like to thank all at GPM for all of the help and criticism (!?) over
the last 26 years. I would also like to thank everyone who has bought any of
SRC's models and hope that they have had as much enjoyment from building the
kits or displaying hand builts, as we have producing them.
I wish you all health and happiness in the future.
Yours sincerely,
Colin Baxter.
P.S. It seems that life will now be one long Wednesday.'

We are
hoping that the SRC
will range will only be temporarily unavailable, as
Colin has built a valuable & popular source for F1 collectors over the years.
