FIA Formula One World Champs 2004 £20.00
Region 2 180 minutes
The 2004 season saw Schumacher carry on where he left off the previous
year and until Monaco it looked quite likely that he was going to take
a clean sweep of all of the races. Over 3 hours of edited highlights capture
the drama of the 2004 season and there was plenty, you just had to look
behind the red cars. After Schumacher's faux pas in the Monaco race we
were treated to a thrilling finale as Jenson Button hunted down Jarno Trulli,
then Raikonnen beat Schumi fair and square at Spa and there was the chaos
at Indy. Much of the footage is previously unseen and will make a valuable
addition to your F1 video and DVD library.

Years of Formula 1 On-board £20.00
Regions 2 & 4 61 minutes
When we first heard about this disc it's fair to say that there was a good
deal of excitement around the office. The DVD covers the history of the
Formula One World Championships from Farina to Schumacher but unfortunately,
due the fact that the makers of this disc have had to fit over 50 years
of history into one hour, there are very few full laps. This is made up
for by the amazing footage of Depailler in the Tyrrell P34 during practice
from the 1977 Monaco Grand Prix with the top bodywork removed so that we
can fully see the driver at work or Depailler again wresting his Tyrrell
around Long Beach in 1978. It would have been good to see Senna's qualifying
performance at Monaco, but we do get to see him at Suzuka and bringing
us right up to date we get just over a lap at Spa on board with Hakkinen
during the 2000 Belgian GP when he first gets the door firmly closed on
him at the top of the hill and then at the end of the next lap put his
superb move on the Ferrari man. Finally, following Schumachers 2003 qualifying
lap at Monza, we go back for a summary of those drivers who have won the
World Championship.

Cobra Ferrari Wars £25.00
This 2 disc set is a must for all fans of 1960s sportscar racing. Disc
1 tells the story of Carroll Shelby and the development of his Cobras,
up to their GT category victory at Le Mans in 1964. The story is told using
a combination of period footage and interviews with Shelby himself and
a great many of the individuals involved in the project, whether as drivers
or engineers. As this was originally made to be a broadcast film for TV
it has had to be edited down to just under 1 hour. The deleted footage
is then offered on disc 2. This fills in some of the gaps in the main story
and also tells of the other major events in the 1964 World Championship
for Makes which the Cobras narrowly missed out on. There are some great
anecdotes in this section, particularly from the 1964 Tour de France and
the coverage of the AC Coupe doing 'reliability' testing on the M1 motorway.
The final deleted scenes include the launch of the Mustang GT350 and the
debut of the GT40.

Motorfilms Quarterly Vol.11 - 85 Mins £20.00
The latest in this fascinating collection of period films features the
2nd instalment of the 1952 Cummins Diesel Indy car film which includes
coverage of the qualifying session and race, all in superb colour. Following
the highly professional Cummins film, we have some fascinating amateur
footage taken at Reims and Donnington in 1938, showing the Mercedes and
Auto Unions going head to head with the former giving a dominant performance
in France and the latter squaring the score in the UK. Next the editors
have chosen excellent colour footage of the 1963 Sebring 12 hours, viewed
from the perspective of Standard Triumph and their team of TR4s. We then
return to amateur footage, this time the 1947 Manx Trophy and the British
Empire Trophy, in both black and white and colour. Finally we are treated
to a black and white film made by the Nuffield Corporation showing the
preparations for and participation in the 1950 Alpine Rally.

Moto GP Review 2004 - 200
mins £20.00
If there isn't enough overtaking for you in F1 these days, take a look
at the premier 2-wheeled series, Moto GP. Just as Schumacher has been the
dominant force in F1, so Valentino Rossi has here and the Italian stunned
everyone by switching from Honda to the unfancied Yamaha. His class showed
through though and he won the season in style. Anyone who watches these
races on Eurosport will recognise the superb commentary of Julian Rider
and Toby Moody and their 'pants on fire' style just adds to the drama.
The disc is also packed with additional features, most of which are distinctly
silly! There is a slightly tongue in cheek introduction to a film about
Rossi's pre-season testing of the Yamaha and a very daft Western made by
many of the Italian riders in aid of charity.

World Superbike Review 2004
- 220 mins £20.00
The
racing in Moto GP may be very close, but that in the production based Superbikes
is breathtaking! Over 3æ hours of dramatic footage covers the
11 action-packed double-header race meetings. For much of the season it
was a three way battle between the Honda of Chris Vermeulen and the Ducatis
of Regis Laconi and James Toseland. In the end it came down to a winner
takes all showdown with the two Ducati team-mates going into the final
race separated by just four points. 23 nail-biting laps later Toseland
emerged as the youngest champion in the championship's history. Bonus footage
includes profiles of and interviews with some of the leading riders, technical
articles and on board laps.

BTCC Review 2004 - 180 mins £20.00
On the packaging for this disc it says 'If it's drama and action that you
are after then look no further'. They're not wrong. The racing is often
on the wrong side of that considered to be acceptably close and this certainly
draws the crowds. Over three hours of highlights cover all 30 rounds of
this dramatic series and are supported by informed commentary by Ben Edwards
and Tim Harvey. As a bonus there is full footage of the 20 lap BTCC Masters
race at Donnington Park which saw 14 ex-BTCC Champions and front runners
taking to the track in identical Seat Cupras. With the likes of Cleland,
Radisich, Harvey, Plato, Burt, Biela, and Tarquini out there you know that
there is going to be plenty of side by side action. You really would have
thought with their experience these guys would know that three-abreast
through the Craner Curves isn't on. Wouldn't you?

Jackie Stewart, Triple Champ - 230 mins £13.00
Nearly four hours of footage go to make this very comprehensive documentary
of the life and career of Jackie Stewart. The film has been expertly produced
and directed by Stewart's youngest son Mark and with a combination of period
footage, access to family archives, interviews with the man himself and
many of those who have known him both on and off the track. It makes for
fascinating viewing and what comes across is a man of great charisma and
integrity. As an added bonus there is also a film about a man whose Formula
One career was inextricably linked in the early days, Stewart's entrant
and great friend Ken Tyrrell. A must for all who are interested in the
history of motorsport and great value.

F1 Legends of the 60's Vol.2 - 180 mins £20.00
We have already seen the films made by amateur film maker John Tate covering
the 1950s and now it's the turn of the 1960s. Well actually we start in
1959, with colour film of various Grands Prix and the World Sportscar rounds,
then more of the same in 1960 & 1961.
Volume 2 picks up where the first disc left off and takes us on through
the rest of the 1960s. There is no index on these discs which makes searching
them rather tricky, so unfortunately you will just have to sit through
all of this previously unseen colour footage. If only life were always
so hard!
